Negotiations are still in progress. We are moving foward and have made good progress this week. There are still some big issues to cover. The week of 8/9 will be long nights. We are going to keep moving right up until our deadline of August 16th. We will keep you posted.

Not much progress has been made this past week. Only 8 items have been settled between the union and the company. There are many more to go and we can not tell you at this time how much longer it will take. Our extension ends on August 16th, which at that time, if we are not done we will have to invoke the 72 hr clause. The union is trying to get a tentative agreement by August 16th. For those on the committee that have been on multiple negotiations we all agree this is the hardest one we have had to go through. We will continue meeting with the company this week and next trying to reach a tentative agreement.

The Negotiating Committee would like to give you information on the past weeks. The tandem agreement/me too agreement has been signed off on. This is for benefits and wages. For those of you who are not familiar with the tandem agreement, this entitles Local 1307 (in the forth district) to the same pay and benefits as Local 1238 (in the third district). This tandem agreement was brought on by an arbitration case in 1964 filed by the union. This coming week the union and company will begin explaining each proposals in attempts to come to agreements. This will not happen in one week. To stop rumors, calling the Union Hall is the CORRECT way to gain information. The next update will be on July 30, 2010.
