Negotations Update 7/25/10

The negotiating team wants to give you an update of the past weeks. The tandem relationship/me too agreement has been signed off on. This has to do with wages and benefits. For those who are not aware of the tandem relationship, it was brought on by the settlement of an arbitration case back in 1964 and entitles the same wages and benefits to Local 1307 (in the forth district) that are given to Local 1238 (in the third district). This coming week we will start explaining our proposals and the company will start explaining theirs, and both of us will try to put some agreed packages together to get to a settlement. This is not saying it will happen in one week. Calling the Union Hall is the only CORRECT way for information. The next update will come July 30, 2010.

Today 7/15/2010 the company and the Union came to an agreement on an extension. The current contract will be exteded to August 16, 2010. Negoiations are continuing. Keep checking for updates.

Special Saturday Meeting

This past Saturday morning, we had a special union meeting at the hall at 9:00 a.m. We had 175 of our members come. Thank you and your support and your attendence was greatly appreciated. We collected over $500.00 in the 50/50 to donate to 1238 during their strike.

Alot of information was given and a lot of questions answered. David and Heather took the money and some cases of water, and apples for the Brothers and Sisters walking on the picket line. We will be having a food drive for the brothers and sisterds up north. Please contribute to this cause. Cash donations would be appreciated.

Please contact your shop steward or the Union office for any questions. Our next Union meeting is scheduled for July 8th, please make every effort to attend. We will be trying some new communication efforts to get important information out to the memebership. Stay tuned.

Open enrollment for benefits will be coming up in October. You will need to make an election.

The automatic rollover option will not be available because of new systems being put in place by Fairpoint in the transition from Verizon.

Be sure to be looking for your open enrollment package in the mail.

The James Mayo Scholarship Committee is holding a raffle for 2 tickets to the New England Patriots/Jets game on Thursday, November 13th at Gillette Stadium. Tickets are 5 dollars each. See your E-Board rep or call the Union hall for tickets.

The winner will be drawn October 20th.
