Negotiations are still in progress.  We are moving foward and have made good progress this week.  There are still some big issues to cover.  The week of 8/9 will be long nights.  We are going to keep moving right up until our deadline of August 16th.  We will keep you posted.

Not much progress has been made this past week.  Only 8 items have been settled between the union and the company.  There are many more to go and we can not tell you at this time how much longer it will take.  Our extension ends on August 16th, which at that time, if we are not done we will have to invoke the 72 hr clause.  The union is trying to get a tentative agreement by August 16th.  For those on the committee that have been on multiple negotiations we all agree this is the hardest one we have had to go through.  We will continue meeting with the company this week and next trying to reach a tentative agreement.

The Negotiating Committee would like to give you information on the past weeks.  The tandem agreement/me too agreement has been signed off on.  This is for benefits and wages.  For those of you who are not familiar with the tandem agreement, this entitles Local 1307 (in the forth district) to the same pay and benefits as Local 1238 (in the third district).   This tandem agreement was brought on by an arbitration case in 1964 filed by the union.  This coming week the union and company will begin explaining each proposals in attempts to come to agreements.  This will not happen in one week.  To stop rumors, calling the Union Hall is the CORRECT way to gain information.   The next update will be on July 30, 2010.

Today 7/15/2010 the company and Union came to an agreement to extend the current contract till august 16, 2010.  Negoiations are continuing.  Keep checking for updates.

Agreement reached with 1238

Saturday Morning at 9:00a.m. we had a special Union meeting at the Union Hall.  There were over 175 members who attended.  We greatly appreciate your support.  Gary Alexander a member of the 1238 negoiating committe was there to discuss the 1238 negoiations and their ongoing stirke. The purpose of the meeting was to bring the membership together to discuss issues around our 2010 Negoiations.  In addition there was disccussion around the affects the 1238 strike on our Negoiations.   At the meeting over $500.00 was collected in a 50/50 drawing for the benefit of Local 1238. the membership voted that all the money collected in the 50/50 would go tot 1238.  Later that day David and Heather drove to Newark to give the money to 1238 and also provided some cases of water and apples for the brothers and sisters walking the picket line, and walked the line witht them showing our support for them.   Please show your support to our brothers and sisters.  1307 will be collecting cash donations towards a food drive for the striking brothers and sisters in 1238.  If you would like to contribute we will let you know who to contact in the next communication.

The union will be using some new methods of communicating important information to you.  We will be sending out informatiuon as soon an it becomes available.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact a Union steward or contact the Local office. 

Our next Union meeting will be Thursday, July 8, at 7:30 pm, at the hall in Delmar.  Please make an effort to come.  The Monthly union meetings are you best arena to communicate and recieve information, espcially during our negoiations.  Stay tuned for more information to follow when it becomes availible.  

This Morning at 9:00 a.m the negoiationg committee is starting work at the Union Hall.  The committee consisting of David Adkins, Debbie Fidderman, Heather Adkins, Michele Horner, Chuck Harris, Jimmy Schnepel, Craig Shrieves, and Eddie Sparks. We will be here working on the information to be presented to the company when we meet later this week.  We will update you as information comes available.
